BEI provided design, architectural, civil, and structural services on this 3-story building for L & E Land Company, working closely with D.J. Maltese Construction on a conventional construction schedule. BEI's architectural department brought their expertise to this job, with Al Blair, AIA, as Project Designer. Al worked very closely with the Owner for all interior and exterior aesthetic design elements and colors of the building.

The third floor barrel vault ceiling is comprised of a sprayed-on white texture finish on gypsum board with down-lights on the flat portions of the ceiling and up-lights at the top of the support columns. In addition, an elegant chandelier hangs from the 42-ft. high space, through the center of the circular staircase into the lobby, which contains circular-shaped classic furniture. The staircase is lit up underneath, which creates a majestic effect. Two stunning glass doors with an engraved acid/etched hearts are at the entryways for patients using the 35-seat waiting room on the second floor. The waiting room contains a beautiful mahogany and granite fireplace, which provides a comforting and relaxing atmosphere.

Off the lobby on the first floor is the rehabilitation center for Oakwood Hospital heart patients and DCA's nuclear imaging and testing area, medical staff working station, restrooms, and medical records. The second floor contains a waiting room, business office, manager's office, billing office, doctor's offices, stress-test rooms, exam rooms, changing rooms, patient video room, conference training room with black granite counter tops, a lunch and kitchen area. The third floor holds a classroom/training area, a full-range kitchen, restrooms, staff restrooms, and an exercise room for the staff. Also, a cardiac rehabilitation room with a nurse's station is available on the third floor. The mechanical rooms are located on the first and third floor.
